Born in Scotland, Gordon grew up in a tranquil small country town in the lowlands of New Zealand. From a very early age he knew illustrating would be his career. His first paid work started in primary school, even signwriting farm vehicles at this young age. Illustration was his gift and passion setting the stage for the rest of his life. Gordon loves inventing, sculpture, crafts and art, reading and writing are not his strongest attributes, however he knew illustrations told a thousand words. Walt Disney’s famous characters inspired Gordon in his formative years when he realised pictures could tell their own stories. This is why illustrating books to the very best of his ability is vitally important to him.
